MOPA

For this MOPA assignment I decided to show the viewer how twin arent always exactly alike. Here me and my twin sister are shown doing our own thing. Adina is dressed in a cute little dressed while doing one of her favorite passtimes, painting her nails. I am just chilling and relaxing while playing my gameboy(one huge differene between me and adina is I like video games and she doesnt) while eating a piece of chicken. I love chicken or any kind of meat unlike adina who is a vegetarian! I did not really like doing this photo shoot, I mean I think it is cool that I got the oppourutnity to show people about myself but I didnt like how I didnt get to take the photo. My older sister took the photo and although I tried giving her directions and helping her out the photo just didnt turn out as well as I thought it should. I had to do some major photoshopping with cropping and just making this photo looking better then the other. The photo is really off center which is a bit bothersome but it is the straightest one my sister took so I had to work with it and with the magic of photoshop I think it turned out just fine.

The Landscape I Liked

One of the biggest things I liked about this photo is the lack of color. I think it is great that the photographer was able to create such a beautiful picture using almost no color. I love how the light is coming up from behind the two main rocks, it looks very majestic. The shadows in the photo make the picture interesting as well. Another thing that attracted me to this photo was that I think its cool how the rocks look like lam chops. It is fun to interpret what we think the rocks are in shape of. I like the shadows in the corner of the picture making the rocks in the photo pop up making the overall scenery look circular. I really like how this landscape photo is different from most others that I have seen. Typically, I see landscape photos of water or the beach or a farm which is overdone. A landscape picture of rocks is different and interesting since it is new and not something we see everyday.

Landscape Assignment

I really enjoyed this landscape assignment. This assignment gave me the oppourtunity to see beauty in places around my house that I had not seen before. For this assignment I basically drove around my neighrboorhood(ocean beach/ point loma) and stopped at local parks and took pictures of anything I thought could possibly be an intresting or just simply good picture. I really enjoyed taking the picture of the playground because I loved the colors. After taking the pictures I then photoshopped them. The one I spent the most time photoshopping was the playground one. The reason why it took me so long is because I really wanted to bring out the colors to give the picture a really bright, happy, playful feel. The photo with the statue I just brightened the photo up and brought out the bluness of the sky and the water, it was meant to look more natural then the Playground photo. Finally the picture with the bridge was also made to look more naturaul then the playground one, all I did was adjest the brightness. I am quite pleased on how my photos turned out. ALthough I live right next to the beach I didnt want to take just a typical landscpae photo of the waves with the pier in the background or the cliffs at sunset, I wanted to take pictures with water in them but water not being the main focus or done in a cliche way.

School Photoshoot

I really enjoyed doing this photoshoot. It really opened my eyes to see that there are many wonderful things at this school that I can take photos of. before this assignment I thought this school was a boring place to take pictures, now I see that there are so many possibilities here. I took this picture of krystal where she is by this windmill and mirror board we found in the back f the school. After I took the photo, I photoshopped it b cropping it and changing the contrast and color levels. Overall I am very pleased on how my picture turned out.

Timeline reflection

My group did our timeline on the different types of cameras that came about over time. this project was quite intresting since I got to learn about the orgins of photography and the evolution of our modern day camera. It was cool to see exactly how much the camera has progressed over time, it is truly amazing. Another thing i enjoyed about this project is the actual making of the timeline. My group did a blackboard with chalk drawings of cameras and a chalk timeline. First we looked up all the dates that would be relevant to my groups timeline. Next we cut blackboards and taped them together for a long chalk board. We colored the bored with different colors of chalk then sprayed the board to make sure nothing smudged Finally we pasted on our dates to the chalkboard. I enjoyed working in a group, the work was split up pretty easily so it worked out great. The only hard part where the decorating of the chalkboard since no one in my group is really skilled at drawing but it worked out in the end.

Anything But Trash

This photo shoot had to be one of my favorites. I loved that my group was able to make outfits out of "trash" it was so much fun to b creative and see what we could put together as a team. Although at times this project could be stressful from lack of full participation from everyone in our group, I believe that it all worked out in the end. I think the outfitts turned out wonderful, the only problem was the wind that day made the outfits start to fall apart. The prinitng process was also a bit difficult because the paper kept during out to dark and then it eventually randomly worked, I think it was cause of the chemicals. I know for next time not to use dark makeup in the models eyes and to shoot somewhere that is not directly in the sun to be sure that there is no squinting. This picture shows a fun alternative to regular clothes that are good for the environment, this was more of a fashion photo shoot then anything else, which is fine because that was my groups goal. Overall, this was a great project and I look forward to doing more creative projects like this.

Portriat

This photo was really fun to take because I was able to do a photo shoot of someone I really care about, my sister. This photo shoot was a bit difficult because it was hard to direct my model and make her seem natural and connect with the viewer. Also it as hard to find a nice place with just natural window light. This picture was taken at my sisters dorm at UC Davis. I would say that my biggest problem with this photo shoot was trying to find a background that would not be too distracting or look weird. Other than a background I think it was a pretty good photo shoot it was just a bit hard to make sure it did not  look like a snapshot. This photo symbolizes independence and a strong female who is growing up in the real world. I would like to do more portrait photoshoots in the future with dfferent people and places.

Portrait Story

This story about Manjari Sharma, showed me what the difference is between a portrait and a snap shot. It has made me realize that a snap shot is posing and almost fakish. But a portrait shows the model naturally beautiful. The model should look comfortable, like themselves, not like they are trying to be someone or something else just natural. A portrait should convey comfortableness, ones vulnerability, there true selves. Manjari Sharma showed people in a truly natural place, the shower. When we are in the shower we are just our selves, theres no one there to change for or put a mask on for, so we act and look the way we really are and that is why this photo shoot is a brilliant idea. I know for future reference now that my photos need to be more natural and not as posy as I normally  make them.

Photoshop Reflection

Although I found this assignment rather difficult considering I do not really know how to work a mac computer or photoshop I found it fun. It was cool to play around with all the brushes and empty space, and make my skin seem softer. I look forward to learning how to use photoshop more knowning that there are an unbeleivable amount of creative things I could do to a photo using it. One problem that I had with this assingment and photoshop in general is that it is rather hard for me to remember all the steps and where everything is but I know after some practice I will eventually get the hang of it. For my picture that I decorated the background with I choose super hero like brushes and colors that corresponded with the shirt I was wearing. Overall this assignment was quite enjoyable even though it was kind of hard.

Sequencing Reflection

I thought that this project was alot harder then the other projects before only because it was quite hard to think of a idea. It was in  sense a bit easier as far as shooting because by now I have had more experience in taking photos. Once I had an idea on what I wanted my story to be it was alot of fun to shoot. My story is about two girls in a coffee shop who are both on a mission to kill one another but only once can oviously succeed. I will let it b up to the viewer to decided why these girls were on this mission. Another thing that was a bit hard about this project was that there was a window so it was kind of hard to know if I was shooting the pictures right. I think that this a definant improvement from from my other pictures.

Photo Booth Assignment Reflection

The photo booth assignment was one of my favorite projects. I really enjoyed getting dressed up in different costumes. I enjoyed playing a character very different from myself. What I had a bit of trouble of on this project was the use of photoshop. At first it was a bit difficult to learn how to size and copy the photos just right but eventually I got the hand of how to do things and it got easier. I think I am getting better at photoshop as far as adjusting the lighting. This photo was meant to show how a person can be so diverse. I thought it was cool how this assignment was done just on a computer.

The photoshop project was a bit harder then I thought. As you can probably tell I had a bit diffculty cutting out the picture of chelsea. The tool used to cut out pictures was hard to use and took me quite a while to get the picture some what okay looking. Once I was able to finally cut the picture out it and paste it to the background picture it still didnt look as good as it could have, considering that the colouring is a bit off between the two pictures. Had the colors been better I believe the picture would have looked more realisitc, with Chelsea leaning on the rock and pointing. This picture is meant to convey joy and the beauty of the nature(the night sky). Had the color of Chelsea been better, the contrast between her and the dark sky would have been real nice. Overall I believe that my picture is okay for my first time of using photoshop and I hope that I can become better at it.
